Upon evaluation of the Social Communication Questionnaire, it is a quick and reliable tool used for screening children suspected having autism spectrum disorder. However, this was a poorly representative sample since those that were evaluated were already diagnosed with ASD and was not compared to children without ASD. Researchers did not explore test-retest reliability nor inter-rater reliability of the SCQ. Despite this limitation, the SCQ however, is a good tool for initial screening of a child suspected of having ASD. Since the questionnaire is given to the parent or guardian, it is a reliable way for researchers to know what the child is like at home or when the researcher is not observing the child considering a parent knows their child best. Its simple questions are easy for parents or guardians to read without the need for further explanation. Furthermore, the questionnaire itself takes little time to administer and score, which helps to make it a quick and efficient tool for screening purposes.
